You have entered into... the area rugs page. "Area rugs" is just the long version of "rugs". At Arden's we have a huge in-store selection of rugs, most Persian but some are Italian or machine made.
THE BASICS As we talk about rugs here we are generally referring to Persian rugs. These rugs are from the area known to most as Iran. There are different regions rugs come from and the rugs are named by this region on this site.
COLLECTIONS Persian rugs are a tradition, an art form passed down through the generations. This art is that of knotting silk and wool in such a way as to create a most beautiful rug that along with its beauty is soft and enduring.
WHAT TO CONSIDER We carry a huge selection of rugs at Arden's that you can view right here on this website. When purchasing one of our rugs you want to pick one that has the colors you like and maybe a design that holds your attention.
*People wonder why are these rugs more than a normal rug, these are hand made by master craftsman that have either learn the art from their parents or elders or have gone to school for it, YES there is a Persian Rug school in Iran. NOTE: 11/04/2006 Customs is making it difficult for things to be imported into the U.S. As a result many items will experience a price increase. Our rugs are one of the items suffering from this necessary inconvenience. Many of our rugs still hold the sale price but we will unfortunately be ending all sales soon and setting our rugs back to regular price.
MAINTAINING YOUR RUG Rugs are going to get walked on and sometimes dirty. You can vacuum our rugs like any other and if something spills on it clean it up right away. You should not have to worry about the rug really wearing out, though the colors will probably fade if the rug is used in a high traffic area or left in a place where it will be subjected to massive exposure to the sun.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS … keep children with food away from the rug, they are too expensive to have a child with syrup crawling around, and you will have a heck of a time cleaning it with out ruining it in some cases (gum, suckers, cranberry juice, etc...).
REPAIR The people that made these rugs live in Persia, I suppose we could send them back for care, just be careful we don't think they will fix them.
