 Upholstery Minimize

You have entered into... "Upholstery", in furniture industry lingo this means furniture that is made using a fabric or leather.  Sofa, ottoman, loveseat, sectional, these are classified as upholstery.

THE BASICS Most of the Upholstery you will find at Arden's will have several hundred fabrics to choose from, as well as different trims and finishes. Please feel free to use our Designers to help you find what you are looking for. If you would like to see some of the many, many options available, please create an account, log in, and go to the "Design/Build Furniture" section.  In that section of our website, you can choose a sofa/chair/etc. and yes, you can CHANGE the fabrics on the piece right here at our website (pretty cool huh?)!

COLLECTIONS There are often pieces that are designed to go with another piece specifically.  The collections are not as vast as those in the case goods but there are many.  When ever you see a sofa there is probably a loveseat that goes with it.  Many chairs have an ottoman made for that chair.  If you buy one item in a collection and want another piece of it we recommend purchasing them at the same time to protect you from discontinuation of the piece, or fabrics you are after.

WHAT TO CONSIDER As you begin searching for a sofa or chair remember that it is really going to be one of the first things a person will see when they walk into your living room.  It is a personal choice on the type of look you're after but you may want to get a professional designers opinion on what colors will go well with the rest of your room.  That is, you have to consider everything from the paint on the walls to the type of wood used on your wooden furniture.

MAINTAINING YOUR FURNITURE Vacuum with the upholstery attachment frequently, that is your best way to keep the everyday dust from attaching itself to the fibers and doing its damage. Upholstery is easy to maintain but eventually you will have to re-cover or replace it.  To keep it nice as long as possible it is recommended that you get it treated to be stain resistant.  Also fluff the pillows periodically and always clean spills right away.  When you get tired of the look or the fabric fades then you may consider getting it re-upholstered or purchasing a new one.

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS … Blot up spills with a clean white absorbent cloth right away! Do not rub the spill, this just grinds it into the fibers making it much more likely to be permanent.  Before cleaning, be sure you know if your fabric is a water-based, or solvent-based, using the wrong products to clean a stain reduces your chance of success, and will void your warrantee!

REPAIR Hopefully you never have to repair your furniture but if you do, it is highly recommended to let a professional handle the task for you.
